FreeMyCV.com launch new service for Jobseekers

by Sarah 1. April 2010 07:13

How could any employer resist this
face!
The CV distribution service FreeMyCV.com are celebrating the launch of their latest product helping jobseekers to get noticed in their job hunt. Once a jobseeker uploads their CV they will be given the option to have their CV distributed to jobs websites in the usual way, or have their CV personally delivered to recruiters using the brand new orangutanagram CV delivery service.

The orangutanagram, as made famous by Trigger Happy TV, allows a jobseeker's CV to be personally delivered to recruiters by a man in a giant orangutan costume. The Orangutanagram will then ask the recruiter for feedback on the candidate's CV, which will then be emailed to the user in question to gage the positivity of response.

An employee of FreeMyCV.com says: "Since the recession we have found ourselves in a candidate-rich marketplace, which means there is a lot of competition for vacancies. That is why we developed this product, a way of delivering your CV in style. What better way to get noticed than with your very own orangutanagram delivering your CV to potential employers. Standing out in the crowd is tough, but our new product aims to make it even easier to find your ideal job."

It has been reported that jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com are currently in talks to launch their very own bananagram to rival the new craze. Dave Martin, MD of AllTheTopBananas states: "I am fully behind this new an innovative form of personal brand marketing, and I just wish I had thought of it first. Our new bananagram service will be available to jobseekers on April 1st 2011, enabling our jobseekers to take advantage of this great service in the new year. We already have the banana costume, now we are just putting the final steps in place to obtain a yellow delivery vehicle for the bananagram to visit recruiters in."

Job Search

CV databases- What's the Point?

by Sarah 30. September 2009 11:27

Job seeking is tough, isn't it?

Let me guess: you spend your time brushing up your interview techniques, following CV advice, staring at jobs websites and hitting the 'apply' button until you begin to get minor RSI.

Then...You...Wait.

Your inbox is so undisturbed that you almost expect a virtual tumbleweed to fly over the screen. Job vacancies are being snapped up quicker than you can scream 'Hire me!' and most of the time you don't even get so much as a rejection letter thrown your way. People keep banging on about CV databases- But you think, it's just another way for my application to be sucked up into the vast, unyielding vacuum that is the world of Internet job seeking, right?

WRONG!

-Employers are increasingly using CV databases to match candidates to vacancies.

-By using CV databases a recruiter can cast their net much wider than using traditional methods.

-They can browse a wealth of candidates and find the perfect applicant for every job they need to fill.

By appearing in a CV database, YOU could be that perfect candidate. Distributing your CV will mean you are putting yourself firmly in the marketplace for a job. You don't buy a car you've never seen, and people can't offer you a job if they don't know you're looking.

FreeMyCV delivers its customers brand spanking new CV's from active jobseekers- employers know that the CV's they will see are the most up-to-date bunch of candidates in the market, which is why they are so keen to get their hands on your CV.
It's that simple. One form and your CV could be in the hands of your next employer in no time.

So, you're in the game, you've distributed your CV and now you wait for the job offers to roll in, right?

WRONG AGAIN!

The best way to maximise your job seeking potential is to be aggressive in your job hunt, be forthright and active, active, active. This isn't some scary cheerleading pitch, it's just good sense- you need to make the most out of your job seeking by utilising every tool at your disposal enabling you to be rewarded with the shiny title of 'active jobseeker'. FreeMyCV does not only send your CV to jobs websites but it registers you with them as well.

This means that you can use your login details and receive all of the benefits of being a registered user on these sites. And you've only had to fill in one form. That's pretty ace, right? You can search, apply, save jobs, and check out all of the facilities they have to offerjobseekers without going through the time consuming process of registering for each individual site. By utilising the services of these sites to the max, you never know how close you could be to finding your next job...

Graduate Watch

by Sarah 14. August 2009 09:48
Continuing with my graduate themed blog week, I have scoured the web leaving no virtual stone unturned, to give you my top 5 unmissable additions to your job hunt:

1) LinkedIn- This site is a great way to connect with people in the business world. It combines all the best bits of a social networking site and delivers them in one shiny neat package for the professional market. It's sort of like Facebook but without the 'which powerpuff girl are you?' quizzes and the unflattering drunken photos tagged of you. LinkedIn gives you the opportunity to network with business people and you can search and invite them to connect with you; contacts that may even lead to securing you your next job. You can add your blog and even create a business bio to show off your skills, talents and educational achievements.

2) Twitter- What's this? Twitter for a job search? Surely not, I hear you cry. But don't underestimate the mighty Twitter and it's ability to help you in your job hunt. The recruitment industry is never one to be left in the dark when it comes to embracing new technologies and popular social mediums, so it was only a matter of time before recruitment agencies, job boards and other recruitmenty individuals divebombed with full force onto the Twitter bandwagon. Thought only by some to be a faddy micro blogging phenomenon that will be forgotten when 'MyFaceReunited' brings out some other uber trendy social platform; but Twitter has already established itself as an ideal place for the job market to infiltrate. You can search for jobs on Twitter, follow your favourite jobsite to see their latest vacancies and even get jobseeking tips tweeted to you, if you follow the right accounts.

One jobs website that uses Twitter particularly successfully for jobseeking is AllTheTopBananas.com, who have set up over 200 Twitter handles for specific location and industry based job searching. By looking at the following list of @alltopbananas you can decide which of their accounts to follow and receive job alerts straight to your Twitter account in a direct message. The DM feature of Twitter allows you to keep your job search entirely private, so no-one can see these tweets. For more information on how to jobseek with AllTheTopBananas and Twitter, you can check out the Twitter Page on their site.

3) Boris might have 'just the job'
- OK, some of you might have the impression that Boris Johnson is nothing more than a random tory loon with a penchant for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. But despite any reservations you may have over the wispy haired oddball, he has come up with a few less than hair brained ideas- and some of those might even help you find a job!

Boris has come up with a site specifically aimed at getting graduates into work, and displays over 500 vacancies in and around the London borough specifically for you lot, you lucky bunch! The site also has careers advice and information on upcoming recruitment events in London to boot, so it is definitely worth a look.

4) Try on a career for size-
Graduates of 2008 and 2009 should take a look at newly launched site Graduate Talent Pool; a website dedicated to pairing graduates up with internships and placements. The site has over 3000 vacancies which can be searched by location, career, start date, duration of the placement and whether you require a paid or unpaid vacancy. Its aim is to ensure graduates have the opportunity to gain work experience to make finding their next job that bit easier.

5) FreeMyCV.com- Ok so no jobseeking list could be complete without mentioning the very best site to aid your job hunt!! A shameless plug you scream? yes, yes it is- but at least I didn't put it at the top of the list! For those of you who may have come into the wonderful world of my blog and managed to completely bypass the other pages of this site- FreeMyCV.com is a free CV distribution service that aims to make the jobseeker's life a lot easier. Rather than spending ages filling out the same information on various different websites so that you are registered and thus can actually apply for some jobs, we ask you to fill in this info only once, and we'll do all the legwork for you! We'll register you on different jobs websites that match your skills and provide you with these registrations so that you can then go on and job hunt more efficiently. We will also give them your CV so that employers can contact you directly if they have a vacancy that matches your skills. Simple!!

Happy Job Hunting!!
